Jethro Rigel Mandolin

Rigel's Jethro mandolin was designed in honor of the legendary jazz mandolinist Jethro Burns.

Carved of select, highly-figured Vermont rock maple and Adirondack spruce, the Jethro "mojo" is its incredible and intentionally crafted voicing for great stage responsiveness. Amazingly versatile, with a superb, complex and well-balanced sound that is suitable for a myriad of styles of music, like its namesake, the instrument has been known to grace the stage of both the serious Bluegrass AND swing musician.

A "percussive" quality, the pleasantly audible "spank" of its strings yields a competitive edge where projection is a necessity, but not at the expense of lively and warm melodic tone.

Rigel breaks its own "tradition" here, offering instead of its signature body radius, a flat-sided declaration, a flattering retrospective of the great asymmetrical two-point instruments of the 20th century.
